New Hobby

I’ve been looking for some new hobbies for a while now since watching TV, eating, and surfing the net have kind of lost their appeal to me as of late. Photography has always been something I’ve wanted to learn more about. I’ve debated taking a course at a community college forever now, but I just never got off my butt and did anything about it. Recently I decided it would be far more interesting for me if instead of taking a photography class I started a photoblog. That way all of my friends could heckle me out in the open (something that would be logistically difficult if I was tucked away safely in a classroom somewhere). So a couple of weeks ago I bit the proverbial bullet and bought a Canon SD110 3MP digital camera from Amazon.com for $150.00. I’ve had it for three weeks and so far I’m very impressed. My first pre-requisite was size. I have a digital camera but its size makes it less than travel friendly. I wanted something I could carry around with me anywhere and the SD110 is tiny. It’s a Canon and they’re known to make good digital cameras so I won’t be able to blame bad pictures on the camera. And it was $150.00 so I figure if I lose interest – hey it was only $150.

So I have the camera and Saturday I started the photoblog. I’m going to try and post a picture every day for one year in the hopes that, by regularly taking pictures and being heckled by friends, I’ll get better – or at least have fun in the process. So where is this photoblog you speak of? Well I’m not going to tell you; at least not yet. I’m going to keep it under wraps until I grow it out a little bit and stop fiddling with the layout/look – I expect I’ll open it up sometime in May. So get ready to be witty because I’ve enabled comments on each photo!
