Fremont Fair
Last Saturday we made the trek downtown to check out the Fremont Fair. It’s a bit like the Dogwood festival in Atlanta, there was live music, arts/craft booths, food, beer, and, the main draw, the Summer Solstice parade. The parade is a cross between Mardi Gras (in New Orleans not Mobile), a Greenpeace rally, and what I image Height-Ashbury was like back in the day – throw in a few dozen bicyclers wearing only body paint and you get the idea. We had a good time taking in the parade (although you’d be surprised how quickly watching naked bicyclers ride around loses its appeal) and hearing some good music. I’ll be posting pictures from the fair to my photoblog over the course of the next week or so.
Overall my first impression of Fremont was very positive; a neat, albeit eclectic, little neighborhood that I hope to explore a bit more this summer.
