Why does this take so long?
When I search for “Internet” Google returns 908,000,000 matches in
0.28 seconds.
When I search for “Internet” my computer returns 144 matches in
8 minutes and 26 seconds.
Does that seem right to anybody?
And before somebody chimes in to explain about file system indexing or database lookups vs. file searches, thanks, but I understand why it takes so much longer to search my computer I just don’t understand why we (consumers) accept it. File system indexing should be part of the OS and part of it now, not next year, or the year after.
And, yes I’ve tried using the MSN search client, but for some reason it preferred to crawl my disks when I’m working instead of the 12+ hours a day when I’m not using the computer.
