   AMT defined:The alternative minimum tax is paid when higher income households take advantage of tax breaks to the extent that their tax liability (the amount they owe) is excessively lowered. If a household arrives at too low of a tax liability according to the tax code, then it must re-calculate its tax liability based on a more limited set of exemptions, deduction and tax credits.

   Translation:Just because you have prospered througout hard word and dedication you are not allowed to take advantage of additional tax breaks, like a second home, or smart investments. Those who are lazy and give nothing back to society cannot benifit from your hard work if you keep all the money that YOU earned YOURSELF.

   All this bill does is extend fchanges to the AMT for another year and prevent it from hitting more upper income people. And why is that everyone thinks we should hit the rich in the pocket? Why cant they keep the money they earned?

   If I have a million dollars and you have a million dollars, yet I decide to spend my money on crack (no tax liability) and you spend your money on investments that appreciate over time (sales tax, capital gains tax, and ultimately death taxes) why should you have to pay higher taxes to take care of my sorry butt. I made a choice just like you did, I need to live with it.

   Where does this money come from? Who pays for this tax cut? We all do. Who benefits from this tax cut? People that make of $1million/year. Not you and not me.

   But hey, what’s another 70 billion on top of an 8 trillion dollar deficit? It only cost me a few extra dollars each paycheck to pay off the additional interest on the national debt this magic tax cut costs, but I’m glad to give it. I only wish I could give more to those poor souls making $1 million a year – and it sounds like you do to.

   I’ve got an idea. Since you’re so gung-ho to give away your money why don’t you just send Warren Buffet a monthly check directly? That way I don’t have to get involved in your supply-side-deficit-spending fantasy.

   Please just think of the millionaires and give today. Won’t you?

   I would love to send Warren a check or maybe even Uncle Bill, maybe they could invest it for me and then I could reap some type of reward from it.

   Oh no wait…nevermind, our government punishes money making decisions like that so that others who dont want to take the initiative to prosper dont have to. They can just wait for my money to trickle down to them.

   Please help your local crackhead. And if you dont want to, we’ll just steal the money from your paycheck.

   You’ve got my vote! It doesn’t make sense to me why we don’t have (insist on) a flat income tax. Every other tax I can think of is flat, why not income tax?
