Well it would be nice if that was something we could look forward. But I doubt it. If there is not increased spending for war and defense on one side of the fence, there will be increased spending for welfare and social programs on the other. Republican or Democrat I think the one thing you and I can certainly agree on is that the government doesnt have our best interests in mind. They want what every regime wants...a second regime.

I love you man!!

Hopefully it will encourage much debate and, from a limited federal government philosophy, little action from the feds except where much consensus exhists (hence the beauty of a constitutional republic versus a direct democracy). I love gridlock!

I think you're confusing traditional conservative ideals with the neocons who believe that making your into enemies democracies is good for security and the economy, which has proven to be a fairly naive approach to both.

I'm all for the traditional conservative ideals of smaller government, lower taxes, and fiscal responsibility, but for the record the Bush administration hasn't measured up to the supposedly conservative ideals you mention. The federal government is the largest it's ever been. They've cut taxes and increased spending leading to the largest deficit ever. And to top it off the federal government is more involved than ever in your day to day life - from wiretapping to a downsizing of your constitutional rights.

I'm not sure what part of that you'll miss, but I for one am happy that now we're going to have a two party system which I hope will lead to some government oversight.

Yes goodbye my Neoconservative brothers. Who needs your ideas of downsizing government or privatization. Those ideas might cause peopel to think for themselves and not rely on the government to bail them out of every bad decision they make. So get the hell out of here, so the democrats can get back in power and take care of us. Yes come back to power so that you may steal more of my paycheck from me and give it to those who sit on the couch with their hands out as I work for a living.
