Chili

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (15 oz) can diced tomatoes
  • 1 (15 oz) can kidney beans
  • 1 (15 oz) can pinto beans
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 1/8 cup diced celery
  • 1/4 cup diced green chili pepper (buy 4 oz can)
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup water (or 1/2 cup water and 1/2 cup beer)

DIRECTIONS

  1. Brown ground beef and drain.
  2. Combine all ingredients in a large pot and heat to boil.
  3. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 2-3 hours stirring every 15 minutes.
  4. Add one extra tablespoon of green chili peppers for mild, two for medium.

Makes 6 servings.
